Do abnormal semen analyses or sperm lead to children with birth defects?

It is debatable. For most of the couples, taking fertility treatments, the risk of having a baby with birth defect is same as in the case of other couples. Abnormal semen analysis does not mean infertility or birth defects. However, men with sperm defects will not sire children if they already have sperm defects. Hence, it is recommended that the couple must have a thorough evaluation and a proper counseling prior to any kind of fertility treatment.
